Healing Design - Feng Shui

Healing Design - Feng Shui

by Hope Karan Gerecht

Feng Shui is a very subtle, deep and magical process. The goals of feng shui are greater health, happiness, and prosperity. While placing items in your home, institution or office, or using objects you already own, we bring attention and support to all the important areas of life: spiritual grounding & connection, love, health & family, prosperity, friends & travel, children & creativity, wisdom & knowledge and career. These items become visual reminders of your life interest and goals.

Feng Shui is the art of creating a harmonious living environment. As we choose items to surround us in our homes and workplaces, feng shui guides us towards choosing colors, shapes and materials which most support who we are on an elemental level and where we want to go in life. This is done through the guidance of a system called The Five-Element Theory.

Each person is a unique blend of five elements. Every color, shape, compass direction, and material falls under one of the five elements. There are a number of interactions between the five elements and one of the most sought after is the nourishing cycle. Specific directions, colors and materials are chosen to nourish the growth and support of each person. This is designing on a whole new level-supporting the integration of body, mind and spirit.

Feng Shui has withstood the test of time. In practice for over 3,000 years, feng shui has guided farmers in choosing the most fertile land, kings in the layout castles and towns, and millions of homeowners in creating healthy and harmonious homes.

The foundations of feng shui are both simple and intricate. It has the nickname of `acupuncture for the home`, since the underlying principles are the same in both arts. The goal is to balance yin and yang and the five elements, while keeping energy elevated and moving throughout your home and workplace. This is like constantly having a breath of fresh air. In fact, feng shui literally translates to mean "wind and water", describing the invisible force behind the currents of winds and the movement in rivers and oceans. We can’t see this force moving wind and water, but we can see and feel its effects.

For a feeling of wholeness, it is wonderful to have all five elements included in each room and to emphasize specific elements recommended on your personalized feng shui chart, which is based on your birth information. We all have unique five element needs. Every color, compass direction, shape and material may be categorized under one of the five elements.
